Company History
Lumax Automotive has grown from a small Trading company to become a quality and technology leader and one of the world’s largest suppliers of automotive products. The company was largely born out of the vision, dedication and hard work of a single man, Mr. Sagar Chand Jain,click here in the capital city of India in 1945. Not the one to be content with a merely good idea, Sagar Chand always strove for excellence. He is the owner, founder, mentor & Godfather of Lumax Empire which is providing employment to thousands of people today. With his ideological and futuristic thinking, Lumax has grown from an infant to a fully mature organization with a number of sub-organizations. Today Lumax provides support to hundreds of business associates in the form of its customers, suppliers and other related organization.The company has grown since its inception to become India’s largest OEM supplier of automobile Lightings, Rear View Mirrors, Air, Fuel & Oil Filters, and Moulded Plastic parts catering to two wheelers, passenger cars, heavy duty trucking, construction and mining equipments and farm machinery. Other sister concerns are also in the manufacturing of Sheet Metal Parts, Gear Shifters, Wiring Harnesses and Packaging material to name a few.

This success story would probably not have happened had it not been for Sagar Chand’s entrepreneurial spirit and determination. In 1945, he started a small, one-man trading concern for automotive parts that has grown today to become India’s leading auto components manufacturer.

S.C.Jain scored an early triumph in 1955 when he had the insight that manufacturing of automotive lighting equip- -ments would effectively set the company apart from its competitors and earn business of many OEM’s. Later company decided to diversify and increase its products portfolio and had setup manufacturing units for producing automotive filters and rear view mirrors during the years 1975 to 1980.

Through the years Lumax has been a part of several different partner companies but perhaps no association is as famous as Lumax - Stanley Joint Venture in the year 1984. Stanley Electric Co., Japan (http://www.stanley.co.jp) is the world leader in Vehicle Lighting and illumination products for Automobiles. In the same year Lumax became a widely held public limited company and got listed on BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) and NSE (National Stock Exchange).

Later in the year 1996, Lumax entered into a Technical Agreement with M/s Toyo Roki Mfg. Co. of Japan for filters (http://www.toyoroki.co.jp), which is a hugely successful partnership and has resulted in to expansion of business opportunities manifolds. The company has continued building on its achievements to become the global enterprise as it is today. Founded by S.C.Jain’s persistence and pioneering spirit, Lumax is a multimillion-dollar, world-class company well positioned to serve its customers into the next century and beyond.
